Things To Do In Beiteddine, Lebanon [Travel Guide]

Shouf is one of the best-preserved regions in Lebanon. Picturesque villages, breathtaking scenery, Lebanese heritage sites, historical palaces and even the largest cedar forest in Lebanon!

There are countless of things to do in Beiteddine and its nearby villages, including Deir El Qamar and Barouk, which makes the Shouf region perfect to explore!

The beautiful historic town of Beiteddine (Beit El Dine), tucked away in the Shouf district, is only a 1-hour drive southeast from Beirut. Overlooking the valley of Damour River, Beiteddine is renowned for the imperial Beiteddine Palace, where the popular Beiteddine Festival is hosted every year!

Which brings us to the first of many things to do in Beiteddine:

1. Explore the royal rooms and courtyards of Beiteddine Palace

Of course, a visit to Beiteddine means a visit to the royal Beiteddine Palace.

Beiteddine Palace, private residence of 19th-century governor Emir Bashir (until his exile in 1840), is one of four palaces in the area – the other three built for Emir Bashir’s sons. The interior décor of the palace boasts traditional Arab style with Italian inspiration. The palace grounds abundantly feature courtyards and terraces with lush greenery and elegant sculptures. Unfortunately, a lot of the grounds are kept under lock and key, inaccessible to the public.
