Ask any tourist who has visited Lebanon and the first positive comment you’ll hear is related to – yep, you guessed it – food. Lebanese cuisine is well known to be one of the best cuisines around the world! A well-earned title, indeed!
Food plays a huge role in Lebanon’s culture and Lebanese food is renowned for its reliance on the abundance in organic healthy vegetables and the use of spices and herbs. There’s always some healthy ingredient lying around in any traditional Lebanese dish. So if you’re looking for that authentic Lebanese flavour, Al Wadi Al Akhdar brings it to the table – literally.
Introducing Al Wadi Al Akhdar
Al Wadi Al Akhdar is well-known to be the market leader in the Lebanese specialties category in Lebanon.
In 1979, the brand started with just three core products; Hummus, Foul Moudamas and Chickpeas. Just a few years later, they started exporting to USA and France!
Now, they have a huge range of products from frozen vegetables (the first brand to launch frozen veggies in Lebanon), canned vegetables and jams to all natural essences/waters, pomegranate molasses, organic vegetable range and much more!
Their products are exported to more than 30 countries with top markets in USA, France and UAE.
Their goal to be the leader in Lebanese specialties in the entire region.
A Closer Look at Al Wadi Al Akhdar “Lebanese Specialties” Products
The beloved Lebanese brand has a number of Lebanese Specialties including Hummus, Foul Moudamas, Chickpeas, Fava Beans and Baba Ghannouj.
Al Wadi Al Akhdar is the only brand to roast eggplants the traditional way for their Baba Ghannouj product (also known as Moutabbal) – while other brands grill. Fun Fact: This is one of my favourite cold mezze items!
The brand even makes their own special Falafel mix – would you go for regular or the special falafel quinoa with a healthy modern twist?
Other Popular Products
Apart from the typical Lebanese specialties, Al Wadi Al Akhdar offers a number of prepared foods including frozen vegetables like Mloukhieh for the infamous Chicken Mloukhieh dish (ملوخيه), spinach for Spinach and Rice (سبانخ ورز) and pre-chopped and washed coriander – do you need another reason to make Batata Bi Kezbara (بطاطا بكزبرة) right now?
They are also well known for their Tahini, Halawa sweets, rose water and orange blossom water – perfect for dessert recipes!
