We spent the perfect afternoon in Harissa and had lunch at this amazing Lebanese restaurant, Amar Restaurant Harissa on the way up.
Amar Restaurant Harissa is the perfect food stop on the way to or from Our Lady of Lebanon.
I’ve visited this Lebanese restaurant multiple times before, but this was by far the best experience!
Visiting during the day for lunch is a great idea since you get to see the beautiful view even clearer and even do some paragliding-watching. Maybe next time I’ll gather up the courage to do it?
The venue is gorgeous! There are two indoor sections and an outdoor. Of course, I would go for outdoor simply for the view overlooking the breathtaking seascape, but I also spotted a cozy indoor section.
Cold Mezza
We started with a selection of cold mezza. Their fattoush is incredible – it had just the right amount of debs el remmen (for reference, I like a lot – so if you don’t, ask for less). If you’d like to switch it up from ordinary hummus, try theirs with pesto. I’m a regular hummus kinda girl.
How gorgeous is this view?!
How about more gorgeous views? Take a look at these close-up shots of our lunch at Amar Restaurant Harissa:
Time for Hot Mezza
We tried a variety of hot mezza including batata harra, fattet batenjen, frogs a la Provençale and other Lebanese staples.
From the hot mezza, my favourite were the Eggplant Fatteh and the Ras Asfour “Asfouriyeh” with pesto and pine nuts, served with potato wedges. Don’t miss them!
Bring on the main course!
Keeping it simple with a platter of mixed mashewe grills. Guys, the meat…. Such Tender. So Wow.
For the sweet tooth
There’s always room for dessert in my books. At Amar Restaurant Harissa, we tried three of their specialties. I enjoy ashta ice cream with Lebanese cotton candy (ghazel banet) and usually order it if it’s on the menu at any Lebanese restaurant. This dessert is not to be missed!
Rakakat Nutella
Final Verdict?
Great service, beautiful location and ambiance and delicious food, Amar Restaurant Harissa is a must try and definitely made my top 10 Lebanese restaurants in Lebanon!
Next stop, the new Amar Seaside 😉 Nothing screams summer more than seafood by the sea on a clear summer day.
Side note: For more info on a quick trip you can do in Lebanon in the area, check out this article on Harissa which I wrote roughly 3 years ago – I also mentioned then that I would like to try paragliding – do you think it’s time to get off the ground or shall I ponder over it for another 3 years? 😉
