Frenchie to Go set up just a few doors down from refined Frenchie bistro by Chef Gregory Marchand, and features excellent Anglo-inspired dishes including Reubens, Fish and Chips, baked sweet treats, and more!
The space is tight fitting about 20 people at a time and it remains packed! However, no reservations can be made in advance at Frenchie to Go – first come, first served.
We split up: T spotted two high-top chairs and I went to the counter to order.
After placing our order, I joined T, impatiently waiting for our food to arrive. Note that we had just arrived to Paris and it was well past lunchtime.
Lunchtime at Frenchie to Go!
Frenchie to Go has an extensive beer list. We tried their homemade beer (5€), which was quite good.
Their homemade iced tea peach was delicious; this was the reason I would order iced tea in every restaurant we visited throughout our entire Paris trip.
Frenchie’s chef is a big fan of Yorkshire farmer, Tim Wilson, who is famed for “The Ginger Pig” offering exceptional quality meats in the UK. I personally got to try their award-winning Cumberland sausage on my London food tour and I completely agree with Chef Gregory.
Fun fact: All meats at Frenchie to Go are cured and smoked on-site, using English Shorthorn beef and Tamworth pork.
Frenchie to Go specializes in a remarkably delicious toasted Reuben sandwich: pastrami, English cheddar, and red coleslaw in rye bread. Naturally, that’s what we ordered. As defined on their menu, Frenchie’s Reuben is “PLUS QU’UN SANDWICH, UN MYTHE” – more than a sandwich, a myth!
Although Frenchie to Go smoked their own meat, the cheese used for their famous Reubens is imported from Neal’s Yard Dairy, a London artisanal cheese retailer and cheesemaker. It’s not just the French who make good cheese apparently 😉
Add fries to that and voila – a spectacularly delicious lunch!
T had the Fried Chicken Burger (14€), which came in a buttered soft fluffy brioche bun, with a side of French fries (4€). It was good, but I would recommend you go for the Reuben.
We skipped dessert – blasphemy, I know.
However, there really weren’t many options available at the counter at the time!
Final Verdict?
Although the name “Frenchie to Go” possibly indicates that it is “to go”, I would recommend taking a seat and enjoying your meal while it’s still hot 😉
Frenchie to Go could become your new go-to eatery in Paris – I know I’m coming back.
