Transport yourself to Paris at Chez Alain Restaurant. Okay, not literally. However, the French restaurant housed in Grand Hills Hotel and Spa in Broumana does offer a view of a miniature Eiffel Tower. It’s definitely a beautiful sight in the evening over a romantic dinner for two in a grand and luxurious 5-star hotel.
T and I stayed in Grand Hills Hotel in the beautiful village of Broumana in Metn.
During our first night in the 5-star hotel, we were hosted at Chez Alain Restaurant, a fine-dining restaurant offering delicious French cuisine in a cozy and romantic ambiance.
We were welcomed by Mounir, the manager of the restaurant, who took good care of us for the evening.
What would you like to drink? Mounir was back within minutes with chilled Kefraya white wine.
A basket of warm bread, butter, and some sort of dip followed. I appreciated that they were already sliced for us so we didn’t make a mess. We munched on that and gazed at the view (and each other) while we waited for our first course.
To start, T and I shared a fresh Salmon Tartar (39,000 LBP) with fresh chunks of salmon with shallots, capers and lemon with a lick of horseradish cream – highly recommended. A delicious Red Tuna Carpaccio (44,000 LBP) with spicy mango and mixed greens followed.
The Seafood Risotto (56,000 LBP) is an excellent choice for a main course if you’re a fan of seafood. On the menu, it stated grilled seafood and salmon; however, there were only shrimps, mussels, clams, and calamari. The dish was still very tasty, but I expected salmon on my plate.
Our second main course choice at Chez Alain Restaurant was the pan-fried Baby Chicken (37,000 LBP) with vegetables and a divine red wine sauce. I would have preferred a grilled skinless chicken or a roasted whole chicken for a fine-dining restaurant, since the plate looked rather off-putting with all that excess skin on the side of my finished plate.
Let’s have some dessert…
T and I ordered the Pain Perdu (17,000 LBP) and the Tart Tatin (17,000 LBP).
The traditional caramelized apple tart and the pan-fried Pain Perdu were both equally delicious.
Both plates were served with caramel and vanilla ice cream. T and I have a thing for caramel and vanilla ice cream pairings, hence our dessert choice at Chez Alain Restaurant this evening.
We were also treated to an assortment of liquor-filled chocolate – the cherry was my favourite.
Final Verdict?
Our romantic dinner at Chez Alain Restaurant was definitely a memorable one. Mounir was professional, friendly, and courteous throughout the entire evening, which made the experience even better.
We clinked our wine glasses over a delicious meal with a charming view. What’s not to love?
A negative thing I have to mention was that the telephone ring is rather loud, and so is the communication between staff members – which isn’t so classy in a fine dining restaurant. Attention should be paid to this issue to make guests’ experience better.
Going through the lavish 5-star Grand Hills Hotel and Spa in order to get to Chez Alain Restaurant was a maze-like yet eye-catching journey which made our evening look promising – and it lived up to expectations.
