8 Of The Best Croissants In Lebanon: Add Them To Your List!

This year, I visited Paris for the first time.

It’s strange because I’ve been to France, but never to the famous French capital.

Inspired by all those croissants we had in Paris, here’s a whole article of fresh buttery croissants to enjoy in Lebanon!

Let’s indulge in a freshly baked butter-ridden French croissant for breakfast!

Here are my top 8 picks for the best croissants in Lebanon:

1. Biscuit Patisserie & Bakery [restaurant closed]

This vintage bakery in Mansourieh will forever be my top pick for anything concerning patisserie, viennoiserie, and in this case, croissants. Choose from Zaatar (thyme), cheese, chocolate, almond, and my personal favourite, plain. The croissants at Biscuit are golden, flaky and buttery; just the way they’re supposed to be. If you haven’t tried them yet, you’re really missing out! Highly recommended and pick up some other specialties while you’re there. You can thank me later 😉

Price: 3,000 LBP (all varieties)

Rating: 9.5/10

Location: Mansourieh el Metn

2. Des Choux et Des Idees

After scouring central Beirut for a delicious flaky croissant, Des Choux et Des Idees was a godsend! After trying both chocolate and plain varieties fresh and warm out of the oven, I am positive that it deserves a spot on my best croissants in Lebanon list. The croissants here are a little on the pricey side, but it’s well worth it.

Price: 3,500 LBP (Plain) – 4,000 LBP (Chocolate)

3. The Grill Room at Four Seasons Hotel Beirut

Breakfast at Four Seasons Hotel Beirut is out-of-this-world good! The croissants are imaginative too. Have you ever had a croissant dipped in chocolate and then finished off with crushed hazelnuts? Didn’t think so. Even the standard croissants are deliciously buttery.

Unfortunately, you can’t exclusively order croissant for breakfast at The Grill Room; their daily breakfast formula consists of a wide variety of fresh fruit, nuts, yogurt, jams, bread, cereal, muffins, cookies, scones, croissants, cinnamon rolls and Lebanese mounéh such as goat Labné, dried tomato… the list goes on. The banana nut muffins are also a must-try!

4. Villa Badaro

It was the first time having a mixed cheese croissant (supplied by Delifrance) at Villa Badaro and I fell in love. It’s delightfully flaky, buttery and all things croissant! You can have it separately or order the continental breakfast formula which comes with this beautiful croissant, butter and jam, bread and cake, paired with coffee, tea or orange juice.

5. Paul

This bakery is probably on everyone’s list worldwide especially when it comes to buttery viennoiserie and flaky croissants. With over 100 years of experience, Paul creates the ultimate croissant: a classic crispy crust with a delicately layered buttery center. Get your daily croissant dose from Paul by ordering the “morning formula” that comes with a croissant, cheesy omelet, butter and jam, freshly squeezed orange juice, and coffee or tea – all that for just under $20!

6. Bar Tartine

Having breakfast or brunch at Bar Tartine is one of my little pleasures in Beirut. I love the ambiance, service, and viennoiserie – and more importantly, their flaky croissants. At Bar Tartine, you can’t go wrong with a generously-filled Chocolate Almond croissant, paired with a fresh cup of coffee… and perhaps some pancakes lathered with Nutella?

Chez Remy specializes in sandwiches and salads using high quality premium ingredients, but they also serve a delicious Nutella-stuffed croissant. It’s not intense and you don’t have to buy an entire breakfast formula to have it! Priced at 2 USD, this delicious chocolate croissant reaches you all warm and flaky.

8. Sibon Patisserie

To clarify, you’re not coming here for a standard croissant (and this is the only Lebanese-style croissant on this listicle). Sibon Patisserie made the list of best croissants in Lebanon based on a not-so-conventional croissant: The “Cronefe”. You either love it or hate it.

Worldwide, people are going crazy over food hybrids like the Brookie (brownie + cookie) or the Cruffin (croissant + muffin), thus the Lebanese “Cronefe” (croissant + knefe) was born. Visit Sibon for their chocolate-infused croissant knefe for a more than indulgent breakfast. You won’t be hungry for the rest of the day! Would you try it? I personally can only have a bite and would rather have them separated, but I do have to admit… it’s good.

And that concludes my best croissants in Lebanon list! Have you tried any? Did I miss one of your favourites?
